how-we-assist-with-your-principal-during-retirement

When you look at your principal during retirement (the amount of funds currently in your retirement account), what are your hopes for that sum of money? If you are like most of our Miramontes Capital clients, your first response will be that your money safely gets you through retirement.

Many advisors love to tell you how much they are going to grow your account. While this is part of the job of a financial professional, many lose track of the primary objective: that we are here to protect your money. If your principal during retirement is not protected, any growth could be lost in an instant.

Your Money & Our Service

If you are seeking professional assistance, you most likely want guidance for your financial future. Your investment is like your child. You have watched over it diligently for even 30 or more years, as it has slowly come to maturity. Allowing a financial professional work with you and your principal during retirement is a remarkably personal process.

It does not matter how educated they are, or how long they have been in the business: a professional who meets with you or calls you only once a year, which is the industry standard, is simply unable to make personalized, informed decisions that will conform to your needs. No matter who your financial professional is, it is critical for you to meet or talk with them frequently, particularly in the beginning stages of your retirement.

Our Miramontes Method for ensuring that clients remain informed on their account starts at the first meeting and does not stop. Once you are a Miramontes Capital client, we confer with you 10 to 12 times during that first year, which is about once a month. During the second year, we scale it back a bit to every 45 to 60 days if the client is more conservative. Otherwise, we continue with the 10 to 12 communications per year via call, Skype, or one-on-one meetings.

This schedule of analysis and communication with our client continues for life. We also go further with the inclusion of roundtable breakfasts, where we get to meet with and stay current on the personal lives of the people we’re assisting, and also give them some time to talk together and share their experiences. We share market updates with our clients to keep them informed and educated, and promote further learning opportunities with weekly videos and various other events.

We do business this way because any other way simply makes no sense to us at Miramontes Capital. Everyone has a personal relationship with their retirement funds, and we feel that that a financial architect’s relation to his or her client’s funds should be personal, too.

Some Take-Away Points About Your Principal During Retirement

The concept of your principal is a basic one, but our approach to the simple things in life often defines our success or failure. Here are some main points to keep in mind about your principal:

  • The only thing more important than adding to your principal through saving is protecting it through appropriate investments.
  • Advisers who are in tune with personal needs are better suited to provide the protection you need.
